What happens to all the money you raise from the charity shops and car boot sales etc?
The answer is to service our costs. Clearly because of our rescue of the sick, injured and abused dogs, our vets bills and hospital bills are massive. The other problem is rehabilitation, when we rescue a dog that for instance has been found abused by its owner, hung for instance (death can take up to 24 hours quite common in Spain at the moment) the injuries although severe are treatable, but the dog can be 6 months in care until he is ready for re homing, clearly this another very expensive rescue.
The running cost of the two shops with rent, insurance, heating, lighting, taxes etc, all mount up as well as the van insurance, licenses, petrol and servicing. Then there are phone calls, regular inoculations, injections and flea treatments etc.
Once we add up all the income from our shop and fund raising initiatives, these are usually similar to the outgoings on an annual basis, given that at certain times of the year we are much busier than others.
